Age 66, of Castile, NY passed away on August 29, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
He was born April 1, 1954 in Iowa City, IA, son of the late William D. and Josie Criswell Asberry. Oliver served in the US Marine Corps. He was a self employed over the road truck driver for forty years. Oliver took great pride in his Kenworth W900 and received a two million mile Road Star award from Landstar Trucking Co. for safe driving. For the last several years, he drove as a team with his wife, Marjorie.
Oliver loved looking for bargains and traveling to flea markets and working on lawn mowers. Above all else, Oliver enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of thirty-seven years, Marjorie McCargo Asberry; his children, Olivia (Mike) Miller of Pleasantville, IA, Blaine (Stacy) Asberry of Portageville, Kara (Matt) Case of Castile, Marina (Karl) Jakob of Germany; grandchildren, Brynn, Colton, Claire, Brayden, Zachary, Gracie, Levi, Gretchen, Vincent and Marlene; his brothers, Lonnie (Darla) Asberry of Malcolm, IA, Jimmy Asberry of Kansas; sister-in-law, Sharon Asberry of Grinnell, IA and his “brother from another mother”, Randy “Scorp” (Rosalyn) Van Gorp of Grinnell, IA; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Dwight Asberry, Linda (Dale) Bever and Cheryl (Mike) Lingenfelter.
Oliver’s memorial service will be held Saturday, September 5 at 11 AM at 15 Sheldon Street, Castile, NY. Memorials may be made to the LaGrange Baptist Church, 7092 LaGrange Rd., Pavilion, NY 14525. Oliver’s memorial service may be viewed by Zoom using Code 942 1842 1009
