Age 89, of Warsaw, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the WCCHS Nursing Facility. He was born in Barkotzen, Germany on November 23,1930, a son of the late Johannes and Else (Wendt) Kunze. Werner immigrated to the United States in 1957. After completing an extensive apprenticeship in orthotics, he worked as an orthotist for Cosmevo Corporation in Hackensack, NJ, specializing in braces and prosthetics. He met the woman of his dreams, Amalia de Almendra, in New York City, who had immigrated to the United States from Argentina. They were married on July 2, 1963. During his years of dedicated practice, he helped many patients live a better life due to his expertise in his profession.
Werner loved the outdoors, especially fishing, gardening, and animals. He also enjoyed playing cards and chess with his German buddies. Werner was grateful for his friends, neighbors, and caregivers, and was especially proud of his nieces and nephews.
Werner is survived by his sister-in-law, Adele Kunze, of Wyoming, and brother-in-law, Carlos de Almendra, of Tijuana, Mexico. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Ursula (Bill) Fuest of Pavilion, Monika (Lou) Ghise and Hans (Leslie) Kunze of Wyoming, Inge Redeker of Germany, Gisela Muheim of Switzerland, and several cousins and great- nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Amalia, his sister, Annemarie (Uwe) Redeker of Germany,and his brother Rudolf Kunze of Wyoming.
Family and friends may join in celebrating Werner's life on Sunday, November, 15, 2020 at 2pm at Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home in Warsaw, NY. Werner will be laid to rest in the Wyoming Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Suzanne's Comfort Home, 167 North Main St., Perry, NY 14530, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Werner's family would like to extend sincere gratitude for the care he received at his home, as well as at the WCCHS nursing facility. Due to Covid 19 precautions, the funeral home is limited to 33% capacity and facemasks are required. Thank you for your cooperation.
