Virginia Grace Stewart Granger

Age 92, formerly of Meadowview Apts. In Silver Springs, NY, passed away peacefully, on November 19, 2014, at the Eastside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, NY, where she had been a resident since October 1, 2014.

She was born on March 27, 1922 in Arcade, NY, the daughter of Arthur Stewart and Bee Lillian Reese. She moved to Pike, NY when she was 15. She graduated in 1941 from the Pike Seminary High School. She was the last surviving member of her class. She married Albert Granger on November 4, 1944.

Albert predeceased her on April 1, 1976. She was also predeceased by her parents; a brother, Lyle Stewart; two sisters, Gertrude Stewart Webster and Gladys Stewart Landahl; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Granger.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth (James) Bates of Conesus, NY; two sons, David (Carol) Granger of Fort Pierce, FL, and Steven (Bonnie) Granger of Batavia, NY; three grandchildren, Tim (Kelly) Bates of Ontario, NY, Crystal (Jeff) Rodgers of Henrietta, NY, and Jeffrey Granger of Clinton, CT; three great grandchildren, Michael Rodgers, Brandon Bates, and Katelyn Bates.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially, visiting her daughter?s home and sitting in the gazebo, enjoying the outdoors. She especially liked cats and would often ?cat-sit? when her daughter and son-in-law went on vacation. She also enjoyed the many friends she made in the 18 years she lived at the Meadowview Apts.

Friends may call Saturday, June 13 from 1 ? 2 PM at the Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile where her memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 2 PM. Interment will be in East Koy Cemetery, Lamont, NY. Donations in her memory may be made to the Silver Springs Rescue Squad, PO Box 117, Silver Springs, NY 14550.
