Thomas C. Handschke

Age 84, of Castile, passed away on January 9, 2021 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.

He was born March 9, 1936 in Eland, Wisconsin, son of the late Chester and Isabelle Mattingly Handschke. Tom loved farming and worked on several area farms. He worked for several years for McCormick Farms and worked many years at Swyers Farms. Before retiring, Tom worked many years for Marquart Brothers Farms in Gainesville. He also worked as an electrician for D.J. Beardsley Company.

Tom was a longtime member of the Castile Fire Department and Rescue Squad and he was an avid John Deere tractor enthusiast. He enjoyed socializing and conversation.

Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Esther Alden Handschke; his daughter, Cindy (Joe) Borrelli of Florida; grandchildren, Lindsay Borrelli and Lauren Borrelli; step children, Spencer (Carol) Willey of Perry, Cynthia (Doug) Willey of Warsaw; four step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; his sisters, Mary Barkewitz of Indiana, Amy (Max) Frazier of Florida; brother, Gene Handschke of Castile; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Ann (Jerry) Rodon and William Handschke.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 28 at 1PM at Grace Cemetery, Castile, NY. Memorials may be made to the Castile Rescue Squad, PO Box 338, Castile, NY 14427 or Castile Fire Department, PO Box 98, Castile, NY 14427.
