Age 66, of Silver Springs, NY, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2020 with his sister and friends surrounding him.
Stretch was born February 25, 1954 in Warsaw. He was a graduate of Letchworth Central School Class of 1972. He worked for many years for the New York State Department of Transportation. Stretch also worked for many years with the late Barney Erhart doing painting and trimming Christmas trees. Following his retirement from the Department of Transportation, Stretch was employed as a seasonal worker for Letchworth State Park.
Stretch was known for his heart of gold. He enjoyed family and friends, fishing, hunting, his flowers and he was an avid NASCAR fan. He has served several years as a member of the Silver Springs Board of Trustees and as Deputy Mayor.
Stretch is predeceased by his mother, Mary Overholt and his brother, Byron Coverdale.
Surviving are his sister, Chris (Warren) Goodenow; his brother, Grant (Tina) Coverdale along with many nieces and nephews and his companion cat, Trisa.
In honor of Stretch’s wishes, there will be no public funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Silver Springs. Memorials may be made to the Silver Springs Rescue Squad, PO Box 117, Silver Springs, NY 14550 or New Start Kitty Shelter, 6342 Denton Corners Rd., Castile, NY 14427.
