Sally Ann Schmidt Van Buren

Age 83, of Warsaw, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at her home.

She was born in Batavia, NY on July 10, 1936, daughter to the late Edward Herman Schmidt and the late Bertha F. Jones Schmidt of Attica, NY. She was employed for twenty years as a bus driver for Warsaw Central School. Sally worked in maintenance at Warsaw Central School and then in maintenance at the State University of New York at Geneseo prior to her retirement.

Sally was a lifetime resident of Warsaw. She enjoyed gardening, canning and baking. She also raised her own farm animals, from beef to a Jersey cow, to pigs and a horse. She loved her animals. Sally enjoyed spending time at her home in Warsaw and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her close friend over the past few years, Dan Samanski of Dansville; four daughters, Deborah (Steve) Abbott of Silver Springs, NY, Dawn Mattson of Silver Springs, NY, Darlene (Steve) Abramson of Michigan, Diana (Patrick) Hoffman of Arcade, NY; one son, Todd (Michele) Van Buren of Chaffee, NY; one sister, Faye Ellen Amberger of Attica, NY; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne Frances Van Buren of Warsaw, her daughter, Laurie Renee Van Buren Holden of Kempter, TX and her brothers, Jack Schmidt, Edward Schmidt and George Schmidt all of Attica, NY.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 11 AM at Forest Hill Cemetery, Route 98, Attica. Memorials may be made to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240.
