Robert George “Bob” Martina passed away on August 8th, peacefully in his sleep at home in Warsaw, New York, with his loving wife Jane Monaghan Martina at his side. He was a member of the Greatest Generation, 96 years young, having proudly served his country as a Navy Sea Bee during the waning days of WWII on Guam building Admiral Nimitz’s home and the world’s greatest “supermarket” for the US Military.
He was an ink manufacturer and printing industry genius, even having taught seminars at R.I.T.
He lived by the Sea Bee motto of “Can Do” and loved building everything from his houses to intricate model airplanes. The only thing he ever regretted was not getting a pilot’s license, despite flying in everything from simple piper cubs to going some 41,000 feet per minute straight up in an F-4 Phantom fighter jet at the 107th Niagara Air Base.
Bob loved and is pre-deceased by his parents Jack and Florence, his brother Sam and his dear son Russell. Bob will be cherished by countless friends, neighbors and business associates but most of all by his close family who have survived him: his devoted wife, Jane, his loving sister Bertha Flens of Baltimore, his children Michelle Wysocki of Depew, Jennifer Durham of Myrtle Beach, Tiger Martina of Las Vegas, Robert S. Martina, David Martina and Rebecca Martina Wagner also in Western New York, his three step-children with Jane: Salwa McKenzie, Raki Saheed and Janeen Mears, their spouses and both of their 15 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Private celebration of Bob’s life and legacy will be had, and anyone who wishes to give donations to charitable organizations in his name would be appreciated, the one most loved being Perry, New York Rotary Foundation. Arrangements are being completed by Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home, Warsaw.
