Age 86, of Warsaw passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
He was born June 18, 1935 in Warsaw, son of the late Ross and Rose Carlino Salamone. Michael enlisted in the Marines in 1954 and served our country proudly. He was a very good athlete and would end up wrestling for the Marines during his time there. After his service in the Marines, Michael worked for many years as a federal corrections officer at Marion Correctional Facility in Marion, IL.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching football and baseball, and due to his time in the Marines, Michael was a warplane and gun enthusiast as well.
Michael is predeceased by his first wife, Karen.
He is survived by his wife, Floy Mowers Salamone of Warsaw; his daughters, Mary (John Ray Wilson) Salamone of Warsaw, Patricia Salamone of Lusby, MD, Linda Salamone Harris of Warsaw; his grandchildren, Michael (Samantha) Salamone, Kristen Norton, Caroline (Ashley Burdin) Waggamon, Garry Waggamon and Joseph Harris; his great grandchildren, Liliana, Juliette, Aria, Raena and Logan.
In-person visitation for Michael at Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home is private but friends are invited to call for virtual calling hours on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 2 - 4 PM through the zoom link, https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9251693260. Or the link can be found at www.robinsonandhackemer.com. Burial with military honors will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Warsaw in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Warsaw Rescue Squad, PO Box 22, Warsaw, NY, 14569.
