Age 95, of Wyoming, NY, passed away on April 27, 2023 at Eastside Nursing Facility.
Marty was born on April 8, 1928, in Warsaw, NY son of the late John and Ina Sparks Mortimer. Shortly after high school and towards the end of World War II, Marty enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After spending four years in the Navy he would then enlist in the U.S. Army, where he spent another eighteen years. During his time in the Army, Marty would serve during the Korean War and the Vietnam War before retiring in 1966. After his time in the military, Marty would work at Mallory Timers and drove school bus for the Warsaw school district. Marty was a past commander of the Walter Klein American Legion Post 532. He also loved his cats and enjoyed bird watching.
Along with his parents, Marty is predeceased by his wife Elisabeth; his sisters, Marge Privitera, Laura Mortimer Webber, Maude Mortimer Gell; his brothers, Harry Mortimer, Arthur Webber and Harry Gell.
Marty is survived by his sister, Mary Mortimer of Vancouver, WA; his brother, Warren G. Mortimer of Poestenkill, NY; his sister-in-law, Sally Mortimer of Sacramento, CA; several nieces and nephews.
No services at this time. Burial at Western New York National Cemetery in Pembroke to held at a later date.
