Age 91, of Warsaw, passed away at home on September 5, 2022.
She was born November 11, 1930 in Evans City, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Loyal and Helen Hoffman Shakely. Katie was employed for twenty-one years as a personnel clerk at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. She was a longtime member of the United Church of Warsaw and the Red Hat Society.
She enjoyed socializing with friends, tending to her yard and flowers and reading. Katie was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Above all else, Katie’s life revolved around her family. She loved family get togethers and celebrations on the hill with campfires at the pond, darts, playing the name game and more. She stayed in touch with her grandchildren with phone calls and facetime and she enjoyed playing Words with Friends and organizing family photo albums.
Katie was predeceased by her husband, Howard Miller, her son Michael Miller and grandson, Matthew Howard Miller.
Surviving are her children, Lisa (Michael) Patterson of Warsaw, Kevin (Suzenne) Miller of Warsaw; daughter-in-law, Ellen Miller of East Berne, NY; grandchildren, Sarah (Eric) Thomson, Benjamin Coogan, Meghan Coogan, Haley (B.J.) Rorick, Dillon Miller, Christopher Miller, Kathryn Miller, Grace Miller; great grandchild, Zoe Grace Thomson; her brother, Ronald Shakely of Evans City, PA; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday, September 16 from 4 – 7 PM at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Katie’s memorial service will be held Saturday, September 17 at 11 AM at the United Church of Warsaw, (cor. S. Main & E. Buffalo Sts.), Warsaw. Interment will be in the United Church of Warsaw Memorial Garden on Tuesday, September 20 at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Church of Warsaw, 10-22 S. Main St., Warsaw, NY 14569 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
