Judy Ann Murphy passed from this life on May 9, 2023, at the Livingston County
Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Mt. Morris, NY, where she was graciously
received and had wonderful care the final months of her life. She waged a
courageous battle with her health almost 35 years. Judy was born on March 14, 1953,
to Richard David Murphy and Nancy Lee (McKee) Murphy, at Latrobe Hospital in
western Pennsylvania. Judy attended her early years of school in Pennsylvania and
moved with the family to upstate NY, where she graduated from Letchworth
Central High School.
Judy began a career as a nurse’s aide at 18 years of age serving in a nursing facility
in Castile, NY. She loved caring for the elderly. Also, during this time she studied
Bible classes for a while at Elohim Bible School. She helped care for our beloved
grandmother, Freda Murphy at Manor Oak Nursing Facility some years later in
Warsaw, NY. She served as a nurse’s aide for 20 years. After this time, she dedicated
herself to looking after the joys of her life, her two grandchildren, Tyler and Lily,
particularly in their primary years of school. She always tried to attend their various
involvements when able and would play board games with them, and was their
biggest fan.
Judy loved to laugh, had a lovely alto voice and sometimes sang solos in church
when she was younger, loved the water, vacations, country music, pretty flowers
and volunteering at Houghton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for several years.
She very much enjoyed serving others and would do anything for anyone.
Judy is survived by her daughter April (Darren) Boynton of Warsaw, NY, grandson
Tyler Boynton, granddaughter Lily Boynton, Lifelong companion and friend, Kathy
Browne, sister Sandra (Murphy) Reimer, Cibolo, TX, brother Richard Murphy (Suzi),
of Clarksburg, PA, sister Kathy Bower of Fillmore, NY, Tim (Tracey) Murphy of GA.
Uncle and Aunt, David and Karen Murphy of Cabot, PA, and multiple nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents.
At Judy’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation, but instead a celebration
of Life will be held on Sunday, May 21 at 1:30 at the Valley Chapel Fellowship Hall in
Warsaw, NY. Family and friends are invited to join us as we celebrate our beloved
Judy. On behalf of Judy, we wish to thank you for any kindnesses and friendship
through the years you freely gave to her. May you be so blessed in the years to
come.
