Judith E. (Judy) Shumaker

Age 77, of Orangeville, passed away on February 15, 2022 at ECMC in Buffalo, NY from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on September 11, 2021.

She was born August 17, 1944 in Warsaw, daughter of the late Charles and Leona Burr Hotchkiss. Judy was a graduate of Warsaw Central School Class of 1961 and attended the Rochester Business Institute. She spent 35 years working as the Senior Stenographer at the Wyoming County Department of Social Services and later worked as the secretary at the Warsaw Country Courier. Judy was a long time member of the United Church of Warsaw and a dedicated member of the Warsaw Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was involved for many years in 4-H. Judy was a member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club with her husband, Bill and she was also the current secretary.

She and Bill enjoyed dancing, attending local country music and drum corps shows, playing euchre with family and friends as well as traveling across the country. Judy was a cat lover and enjoyed taking care of her cats, Odie and Tink. Most of all though, Judy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Judy is predeceased by her husband of forty-seven years, Bill Shumaker, whom she married on March 15, 1974; her sister, Susan Helmer and brother-in-law, Steven Helmer.

Surviving are her children, Terry (Kathy) Brown of Spencerport, Tami (Joe) Manard of Niceville, FL, Kristin (Nathan) Merle of Holley, Jason (Kim) Shumaker of Avon; her grandchildren, Kara Brown, Rachel Brown, Nicole (Caleb Bethea) Manard, Desiree` Manard, Cody Manard, Allison Merle, Mason Merle, Julia Shumaker, Anna Shumaker; her siblings, Kathleen (Edward) McGrath of Warsaw, Robert (Alicia) Hotchkiss of Del Rio, TX, Marcy (Raymond) Kolacinski of Yuma, AZ; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, February 25 from 4-7 PM at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where Judy’s funeral service will be held Saturday, February 26 at 11 AM. There will be an Auxiliary memorial service on Friday, February 25 at 7 PM at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery (Dutch Flats), Orangeville at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Warsaw Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, PO Box 171, Warsaw, NY 14569 or A New Start Kitty Shelter, 6342 Denton Corners Rd., Castile, NY 14427.
