Age 74, of Wyoming, passed away November 29, 2021, at UMMC in Batavia, NY.
Jean was born in Warsaw, NY June 12, 1947, to Wilford and Genevieve (Vosburg) Butler. Jean graduated from Letchworth Central School in 1965 and then attended Rochester Business Institute before her lengthy career in banking and insurance. She worked at Goff Agency, the Potter Agency, and Tompkins Insurance. Jean was a licensed Insurance Broker. In banking, she had multiple positions at the former Wyoming County Bank and Five Star Bank. The teller window was her favorite place to be.
Surviving are her husband of 14 years, Michael Sullivan of Wyoming, NY, her beloved daughter Shelly A. (Tracy) Plesums of Warsaw, NY, dear grandchildren Carissa and Jacob Plesums, Shelly’s father George Draper, stepdaughter Ann (Douglas) Neff of Caledonia, NY and their children Joshua and Alexis, stepsons Timothy (Ligia) Sullivan of Mobile, Alabama and Ryan (Kristin) Sullivan of Snow Hill, Maryland and their daughter Alice, Aunt Winifred Vosburg, former brother-in-law James Pullano, several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Janet Bolton, and her husband, of 17 years, Stewart G. Lowden.
Jean was a people person with an outgoing spirit, a good sense of humor and a smile for everyone.
Jean was a former member of the Warsaw Fire Department Auxiliary and the NRA, and as the daughter of a volunteer fire chief, she was very supportive of all first responders and veterans. Jean was extremely patient when Mike was out with his “other family” at Wyoming Hook & Ladder.
She enjoyed attending the school functions and sporting events of the grandchildren as they grew and went out into the world as adults.
Jean liked being near water, rides in the country, horses, traveling, camping, frog collectibles, video puzzles, reading and music, and there was always a dog in her home.
Jean enjoyed creating handmade greeting cards with Shelly and friends, especially her dear friend Edie Knight.
Jean was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Jean was a loving, caring, and devoted wife.
Beyond her presence her gift to us was her smile and laughter, please pass it on.
A graveside service will be held for Jean at the Warsaw Cemetery, South Main Street Warsaw, NY on Saturday July 16, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. A Celebration of Jean’s life will follow at Wyoming Hook & Ladder’s Fire Hall at 26 Maple Street, Wyoming, NY.
