Jane L. Washburn

Age 93, of Castile, died at home on November 23, 2015.

She was born September 2, 1922 in Caneadea, NY, daughter of the late Charles and Lettie Travis Mix. Jane worked for many years as a furniture distresser at the Kittinger Furniture Company in Castile.

She was a long time member of the Castile United Church of Christ where she also helped run the Food Pantry for many years. Jane was a member of the Wallace-Jeffers American Legion Auxiliary for over fifty years and she was a member of the Silver and Gold Club in Castile.

For many years, Jane, along with her husband and others in the community, traveled to area nursing facilities performing musical skits and entertaining the residents. She was very accomplished at ceramic arts, making ceramic Christmas trees for all of her family. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening and quilting. Jane was fiercely loyal to her family and loved nothing better than spending time with them.

Jane was predeceased by her husband of seventy-one years, Mark K. Washburn who died in 2013 and by her son, Kenneth Washburn who died in 1981.

Surviving are her sons, Stephen R. (Laverne) Washburn of Panama City Beach, FL, Richard (Debbie Beardsley) Washburn of Castile; her grandchildren, Lisa Washburn of Piedmont, SD, Chad Washburn of Huntington Beach, CA, Stephanie Washburn of Los Angeles, CA, Dee Ann DiCicco of Syracuse, Dean Daniels of San Diego, CA; six great grandchildren; her sister, Margaret Washburn of Panama City, FL.

Friends may call Friday, November 27 from 10 AM ? Noon at the Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile. Jane?s funeral service will be held on Friday at 12:30 PM at the Castile United Church of Christ (cor. N. Main & Washington Sts.). Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Castile. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Castile United Church of Christ Food Pantry, 4 Washington St., Castile, NY 14427.
