Age 93, of Warsaw, passed away at his home on December 17, 2024.
He was born on June 15, 1931 in Rochester, son of the late Henry and Klara Griffin Schafer. Henry graduated from St. John Fisher University in 1955, the Pioneer class. He successfully achieved a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. Upon graduation, he worked at Mallory Timers before enlisting in the military. Henry proudly served our country in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Mallory Timers where he met his wife, Sheila. They went on to be happily married for 65 years. Once his employment with Mallory Timers concluded, he found employment with B.R Dewitt Concrete of Pavilion. His work with B.R Dewitt would go on for over 30 years. He successfully served them as the Treasurer and office/computer manager until his retirement. He was very proud to be asked and serve as a trustee at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Warsaw for over forty years. Additionally, he served the church as the chair of the finance committee where his work proved instrumental to the financial success of the parish. All in all, Henry was very devoted to wife, family and his faith.
Along with his parents, Henry is predeceased by his sisters, Mary Ormiston and Margaret Schafer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Callahan Schafer; his daughters, Therese (Gardner) Comstock, Mary Schafer, Kristin Schafer; his sons, Eric (Beth) Schafer, Robert (Sarah) Schafer, Brian (Lisa) Schafer all of Warsaw, as well as, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 3-7 PM at Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Henry’s funeral mass will be held on Saturday December 21, 2024 at 11 AM at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 171 N. Main St. Warsaw. Burial will be immediately following the funeral mass at St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 171 N. Main St., Warsaw, NY 14569.
