Age 71, of Livonia, NY, passed away on September 28, 2020 at Highland Hospital in Rochester.
He was born August 11, 1949 in Springville, NY, son of the late James and Margaret Best Mitchell. Gary was a Master Sergeant with the New York Army National Guard and the US Army National Guard. He served forty-two years in the National Guard prior to his retirement working as a maintenance supervisor and a logistics specialist. Gary was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm.
Gary was an accomplished woodworker who made many beautiful pieces of furniture. He was an avid Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and New York Yankees fan.
Surviving are his brother, Dennis Mitchell of Warsaw; his niece, Robin Mitchell of Warsaw; his nephew, Jeff (Holly) Mitchell of Warsaw; his great niece and nephew, Kala and Jacob.
Friends may call Saturday, October 10 from 10 AM – 12 PM at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. A private veterans service will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wyoming County Joint Veterans Council c/o Wyoming County Veterans Service Agency, 5362 Mungers Mill Rd., Silver Springs, NY 14550 or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Funeral home is limited to 33% capacity due to Covid-19 regulations. Masks are required.
