Age 88, of Warsaw, passed away on February 28, 2020 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.
He was born November 26, 1931 in Warsaw, son of the late John and Florence Madison Motts. Francis was a proud veteran of the US Army. He was employed for twenty-eight years as a mechanic for Frontier Telephone Company prior to his retirement in 1993.
Francis was a member of the Memorial Post Veterans of Foreign Wars in Warsaw for fifty years, having served as Adjutant for thirty-five years. He was also a member of the Walter Klein Post American Legion in Warsaw for over sixty-five years. Recently, he was proud to have gone on an Honor Flight trip. Francis was a seventy-four year member of the Silver Springs United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was an animal lover, a woodworker and loved tinkering around the house.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-one years Donna Severson Motts; his sisters-in-law, Jackie (Don) Reniff of Dansville, Ellen (Geoff) Alcock of Arizona, Ada Severson of Portageville; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Stanley Madison.
There are no calling hours. Francis’ memorial service will be held Saturday, March 7 at 11 AM at the Silver Springs United Methodist Church, Church St., Silver Springs. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Silver Springs at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wyoming County Animal Shelter, 4380 Route 19, Silver Springs, NY 14550.
