Ethel Marie Uptegrove

Ethel “Marie” Schramm Uptegrove, age 78 of Castile, NY went home to be with her Lord & Savior on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Wyoming County Community Health Services. Ethel, better known as Marie was surrounded by her loving family at time of death. Marie was born Nov 29,1944 in Batavia, NY to the late Christian and Ethel (Sage) Schramm.

Marie enjoyed spending time with her family. Marie enjoyed a good game of Scrabble, Sorry and many other games. Marie always had a puzzle going on the table. Marie taught herself how to play the piano to fill the void her daughters left at Burke Hill Bible Church.

In late Spring of 1965 Marie accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. In June of 1967 she dedicated her life to the Lord. In 1969 Marie attended Elohim Bible Institute with her husband Roger and graduated in 1972. In October 1976 Marie became a member of Burke Hill Bible Church where she remained a member and regularly attended until the time of her death.

Marie worked at Falcone Electric in Batavia. Marie enjoyed being a stay at home mom taking care of her children. She enjoyed drinking a cup of Red Rose Tea in the afternoon and taking cat naps at the table.

Marie attended college at Genesee Community College with her daughter Ruth and then again later with Mary. Marie worked at Walmart in Geneseo for over 15 years.

Marie is survived by her six children-Ruth (Daniel) Smith of Winona, KS, John (Denise) Uptegrove of Angola, NY, Mary Wixson of Thompsonville, MI, Joel (Heidi) Uptegrove of Cheyenne, WY, Jeremiah (Michelle) Uptegrove of Bernhards Bay, NY and Jacob Uptegrove of Perry, NY. Marie is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 brother Leonard Schramm & 1 sister Althea Penepent.

Marie was predeceased by her loving husband of almost 56 years Roger Uptegrove, sisters- Edna Torrey, Edith Schramm, Doris Stack, 2 brothers-Donald & Ronald Schramm, one grandson-Simon Smith and 1 great granddaughter Hannah Smith.

Family & Friends of Ethel “Marie” (Schramm) Uptegrove may call on December 10, 2022 at the Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home from 1pm to 3pm with funeral service immediately following.
