Esca C. Weiss

Age 84, of West Park Road, Castile, died January 22, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness.

She was born December 14, 1929 in Castile, daughter of the late Algia and Edith Hurlburt Walker. Esca was the valedictorian of the first graduating class of Letchworth Central School in 1947. She was an accomplished crafter and seamstress. She enjoyed baking and was well known for baking wedding cakes. Esca and her late husband, Raymond owned and operated the Weiss Dairy in Castile from 1955 to 1984. Esca was a member of the Wyoming Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Weiss who died July 23, 2009. They were married on May 11, 1948.

Surviving are her children William (Waneta) Weiss of Castile, Stephan (Dawn) Weiss of Concord, NC, Emily Weiss Trahan of Essex Junction, VT; her grandchildren, Aaron (Adria) Weiss, Katrina Weiss, Matthew (Michelle) Weiss, Shelby Weiss, Rachel Trahan, Angela Trahan; 1 great grandchild, Adalee Weiss; her sisters, Sylvia Wohlgemuth of DeBary, FL, Lydia (Jim) Lonsberry of Perry; a close cousin, Edyth Martin of Byersville, NY; several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Neil Walker.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 24 at 2 PM at Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Castile. Memorials may be made to the Wyoming Baptist Church, 28 Main St., Wyoming, NY or to the Doughboy Restoration Fund, PO Box 394, Castile, NY 14427. Arrangements are being completed by Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, Castile.
