Age 80, of Warsaw, passed away on February 4, 2024 at Buffalo General Hospital.
He was born April 12, 1943 in Lackawanna, NY, son of the late Kenneth and Ida Gillette McGrath. He was a graduate of Letchworth Central School. Ed was a proud veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was employed for many years as manager of the Warsaw Ace Hardware prior to his retirement. In earlier years, he was the produce manager at the Acme Supermarket in LeRoy.
Ed was a longtime member of the Warsaw Fire Department and is a member of the Warsaw Volunteer Exempt Firemen. He was a member of the Wyoming County Veterans Club in Warsaw and he was a former member of the Warsaw Lodge Free & Accepted Masons.
Ed was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. For many years, he enjoyed annual fishing trips to Canada.
Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Kay Hotchkiss McGrath, whom he married on June 29, 1963; his sons, Mark (Erin) McGrath of Lake George, NY, Scott (Ally) McGrath of Warsaw; his grandchildren, Trace, Emmitt, Emma, Ava, Mason and Mara; his siblings, Lynn Veazey of Warsaw, Timothy McGrath of Warsaw, Thomas McGrath of Hermitage; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Kenneth McGrath, William McGrath, James McGrath, Dennis McGrath and Donna Leigh-Manuell.
There will be a celebration of life held on July 13th, 2024 from 1pm to 5pm at the Chuck Hotchkiss Memorial Building at the Warsaw Village Park, Liberty St., Warsaw. Food and beverages will be provided. Memorials may be made to the Warsaw Rescue Squad, PO Box 22, Warsaw, NY 14569 or the Warsaw Fire Department, PO Box 229, Warsaw, NY 14569.
