Age 95, a resident of the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw, formerly of Pike, died January 11, 2015 at the nursing facility.
She was born September 27, 1919 in Castile, NY, daughter of the late Roscoe and Bessie Curtis Ahl. Doris was a graduate of Pike Seminary and served for over thirty years as the Library Director for the Pike Public Library. In 1996, Doris received the DeWitt Clinton Masonic Award for community service in Pike. In 2008, she received the Warren H. Hanson Award for meritorious service by the Wyoming County Library Advisory Council and in 2009 the Village of Pike bestowed the Service Award to Doris in recognition of her thirty years as Library Director.
Doris was a longtime member of the Pike Community Church.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Edwin ?Ned? J. Flint in 2003 and by her son, Jack E. Flint who died in 1999.
Surviving are her daughter, Dawn Drechsler of Pike; her grandchildren, Julie Frydenborg of Deep River, CT, Nathan (Sandy) Drechsler of Eagle, CO; great grandchildren, Ian Malli of Deep River, CT and Logan Drechsler of Eagle, CO; many nieces and nephews. Doris was the sister of the late Victor I. Ahl, Carolyn Miller and Miriam Perrine.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 9 from 1 ? 2 PM at the Pike Community Church, 52 East Main Street, Pike where her funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 2 PM. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Pike. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pike Public Library or the Pike Community Church. Arrangements are being completed by Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, Castile.
