Dean S. Stenshorn, age 78 of Silver Springs, NY passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 peacefully at home after a brief battle with cancer. Dean was born April 4, 1942 in Warsaw, NY to the late Sidney and Luella (Perrine) Stenshorn.
Dean loved his family, friends and the many groups and organizations he was involved with. He loved the winter and snow, decorating for Christmas holidays, and was an avid snowmobiler right up to recent years. When he couldn’t snowmobile, he and Bonnie enjoyed camping with friends and family. All who knew Dean knew he was a fantastic woodworker and could build almost anything one could wish for. When he was at home he could often be found in his man cave enjoying old western movies (forever a John Wayne fan) and listening to all forms of music.
Dean was a prior Commander of the Masonic Temple in Attica, NY. He served as a school board member for Letchworth Central School for years and a volunteer fireman of 25 years for Gainesville Fire Dept. Dean worked for the New York State Deptartment of Corrections and worked at Attica Correctional Facility and most recently Groveland Correctional Facility before his retirement.
Surviving him is his wife of nearly 58 years, Bonita Sandra (Morris) Stenshorn of Silver Springs; children D’Arcy (Mark) Gaisser of Brockport, NY, Vicky Stenshorn (William Mickey) of Plymouth, MI; grandchildren Ashley (Ben) Barton, Jordan Gaisser, Rachel Mickey and Joshua Mickey; great grandchildren Connor and Patrick Barton; his sister Janet Chapek of Port Charlotte, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Dean is the brother of the late Donald Stenshorn and Diane Kranock.
Friends may call Saturday, January 9 from 1 – 3 PM at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where Dean’s memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 3 PM. Due to Covid 19 precautions, funeral home capacity is limited to 33% and facemasks are required.
