Dawn Conklin

Age 87, of Castile, NY passed away at home on December 6, 2021.

She was born October 15, 1934, daughter of the late Bayard and Pauline Hotchkiss Bliss. Dawn was a graduate of Letchworth Central School, after which she attended beautician’s trade school. She owned her own salon for years when her children were young. She was a multi-talented homemaker and mother of five, balancing the challenges of a large family while being a business partner to her husband Gene. Both she and Gene had entrepreneurial and adventurous hearts. They were inseparable and life took them on many journeys together, always, side by side.

Dawn was a member of the United Church of Christ in Castile for many years and enjoyed being a Cub Scout leader to many children. She loved to read and cook. Her door was always open and there was always an extra plate at the ready.

Dawn is predeceased by her husband of sixty-four years, Gene Conklin; her daughters, Victoria Ferrara-Conklin and Dr. Deborah Coggiola and her brother, Norman Bliss.

Surviving are her children, Daniel (Lisa) Conklin of Castile, Lionel (Darshane) Conklin of Castile, Veronica (Jeffrey) Smith of Bliss; her brother, Lester Bliss of Centerville; her sisters, Wanda (David) Dorpfeld of Coxsackie, NY and Dona (Tim) Rickard of Hammondsport, NY; her son-in-law, Peter Coggiola of Silver Springs; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren.

Friends may call Saturday, December 11 from 10AM-12PM at Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw, where Dawn’s funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 12PM. Burial will be held in Alger Cemetery in Hume, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Castile Rescue Squad, PO Box 338, Castile, NY 14427.
