Age 71, of Castile, NY passed away peacefully on June 24, 2014 at his blueberry farm following a battle with cancer.
Craig was born March 29, 1943 in Norwalk, OH, son of the late Franklin Graves Wells and Katherine McKay Wells. Craig was raised on a farm on the Concord-Hopkinton townline in NH where he attended St. Johns High School in Concord, NH. He was active in high school playing basketball and football. Craig attended the University of Connecticut where he studied pharmacy. After college, he worked for McNeil Laboratories/Johnson & Johnson as a regional sales manager in New England. Craig also spent many years in the real estate business and owned various real estate companies in Vermont, Florida, Utah and Colorado. Most recently he was the owner and proprietor of Wells Berry Farm.
Craig was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed being outside on his farm, watching wildlife or hiking up the side of a mountain. In his later years, he was also known for driving around the farm in a golf cart. Craig loved driving and travel. He enjoyed trips to no where on a search to find undeveloped or undiscovered places.
Craig is survived by his wife Carolee, his son Jeffrey ?JC? (Lori) Wells of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, daughter Erin (Mark) Cobb of Yulee, Florida, son Jay (Cami) Wells of Sarasota, Florida and son Craig ?Kip? (Melissa) Wells of Daytona Beach, Florida, step-daughter Kelly A. (Chris) Steele of Magna, UT, step-son Jason C. (Rebecca) Barnett of Tooele, UT, his sisters Marian (Tony) Bryan of Bradenton, Florida, Pat (Jim) Millslagle of Canton, Georgia, his nephews and his seventeen grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, June 28 at Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main Street, Castile, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Craig’s name to Home Care & Hospice, 450 N. Main St., Warsaw, NY 14569.
