Boris Gaidasz, 85, of Warsaw (formerly Mount Morris), passed away peacefully at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility, surrounded by his family.
He is predeceased by both his parents, Matrona and Stefan; his siblings, Ala (Frederico) Tortolero, Lina (Teodor) Pystrak, and George (Carmen) Gaidasz; a grandaughter, Allie Vose; with a special acknowledgement of the prior passing of dear best friends, Leo and Adelaide LaVerdi.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Eleanor, of Warsaw; his four children: Bernard (Christine) of Mount Morris, LoriAnn Gaidasz-Santini of Beulah, Colorado, David of Buffalo, and Daniel (Karen) of Ballston Spa; his grandchildren Brianna, Kaisey, Sol, Nate, Joe, Emma, and Max; and finally many, many beloved nieces and nephews across two continents.
Before he retired, Boris was a jeweler and horologist who owned the store Crestview Jewelers, in Perry. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he enjoyed solving all manner of mechanical puzzles and machines. He created and installed the tower clock found in Wyoming, NY. He could often be found puttering around on his thirty acre farm with ‘Bambi’, his trusty John-Deere tractor.
At his and Eleanor’s request, there will be no funeral or visiting hours. Instead, there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
He will be remembered fondly as a good neighbor; a grand raconteur; and loving husband, father, uncle, and grandfather.
He will be missed.
