Anna Mae Balmas

Age 85, of Castile, NY, passed away on January 8, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.

She was born September 18, 1936 in Warsaw, NY to the late Frank and Stella Brzezowski Blaszak. Anna Mae was a graduate of the Rochester Business Institute. She was a medical secretary for Dr. Baker in Castile until she and her husband, Barney bought the Castile Ag Service in 1968, where Anna Mae served as Chief Financial Officer. She also worked as the Wyoming County Democratic Elections Commissioner from 2005 to 2016.

Anna Mae was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Silver Springs. She started playing the organ when she was in 8th grade and was part of the church choir for over sixty-five years. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Parish Financial Committee at St. Mary’s Church. Anna Mae was a member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council of the Buffalo Diocese. Anna Mae was a longtime member of the Castile Wednesday Club, a member of the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce and the Silver Lake Country Club. She was also a member of the Wyoming County Community Hospital Board of Managers for many years.

Anna Mae enjoyed music, knitting, golfing and was an avid New York Yankee fan.

Along with her parents Frank and Stella, she is predeceased by her brother, Frank Blaszak II.

Anna Mae is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Bernard, whom she married October 8, 1960. Also surviving are her daughter, Nita (Michael) Bellucci of Baldwinsville; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 10 AM – 12PM at St. Isidore’s Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church site, Silver Springs where Anna Mae’s Memorial Mass will be held immediately following at 12 PM. Arrangements are being completed by Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, Warsaw, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Castile Rescue Squad, PO Box 338, Castile, NY 14427 or the Castile Fire Department, PO Box 98, Castile, NY 14427.
