On Monday, May 9th, Ann K. Corwin, 90 of Varysburg, NY died in Strong Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Ann was born to George and Jeanette Hewson Knab on September 19, 1931 in Warsaw, NY and grew up on the family farm on Thomas Rd. in Varysburg. Ann was a payroll clerk for many years at Sylvania in Buffalo and Batavia. She was predeceased by her parents and husband and forever love, Donald E. Corwin. “Ann and Ace” married on May 25, 1963. Ann left work to raise her family. In 1984 she went back to work for Wyoming County Community Action. She retired at age 70 in 2001. Ann enjoyed traveling, entertaining, hosting dinners and parties for family and friends, and cheering the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, and New York Yankees. She especially loved Sunday dinners with the kids and grandchildren. Ann was a 4-H leader, a past member of the Varysburg Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and member of the Tri-Town Seniors. She attended Attica Baptist Church.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Ken) Beglinger of Varysburg and her son, Robert (Amy) Corwin of Penfield. Her four grandchildren, Samantha (Steve) Stone of Quincy, MA, Katie (Wilson Feng) Beglinger of Hayward, CA, Anastasia Corwin and Nick Corwin, both of Penfield. Her brother, John (Joan) Knab of Varysburg and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, George and Doris Knab.
Ann made an anatomical gift to University at Buffalo School of Medicine. She chose to help future medical professionals learn more about the human body.
Ann will be remembered for her kindness, willingness to help, generosity, faith and her ever present smile.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4 at Attica First Baptist Church, 3 Prospect St., Attica NY. Family will be present at 10 am and the service at 11 am.
