Age 81, of Attica, went to be with his Lord Jesus Saturday, December 26, 2020 from United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, NY. He was born December 2, 1939 to the late Leslie and Hilma (Stryker) Sawyer. He was a 1958 graduate of Attica High School. He served in the United States Army Reserves from 1959 to 1965. He married Judy Quackenbush April 8, 1967. For many years he served on the Wyoming County 4-H Beef Project Committee. He also taught 4-H trapping courses to youngsters. Alan worked as a meat cutter in several supermarkets for 38 years. In 1976 he and his wife opened Sawyer’s Custom Meat Cutting business. Through the years many patrons of his meat shop became dear friends. Al’s great pleasure was to be in the outdoors enjoying hunting, fishing, camping with his family and friends and beloved dogs. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Attica.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Judy; two sons, Matthew (Darcy) Sawyer of Locke, NY and Timothy (Cathy) Sawyer of Attica; four grandchildren, Jesse (Maddy) Sawyer, Rachel Sawyer, Samantha Sawyer, and Melissa Sawyer; one great grandchild, Hudson Alan Sawyer; a brother, Dean (Judy) Sawyer, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call, Wednesday, December 30 from 3 – 7 PM at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Alan’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 31 at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church of Attica, Prospect St., Attica. Burial will be held in Lyonsburg Cemetery, Bliss. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Attica Fire Dept., 11 Water St., Attica, NY 14011 or to the First Baptist Church of Attica, 3 Prospect St., Attica, NY 14011. Due to Covid-19 precautions, the funeral home is limited to 33% capacity and facemasks are required. Thank you for your cooperation.
