Agnes A. Tamrowski

Agnes A. Tamrowski, known as Aggie by many, left this world on December 20, 2016 for a better place. Aggie was a loving mother and wife, a talented artist and a loyal friend. She was married to the same man for fifty-three years, lived in the same house in Castile, NY for fifty-two years, and inspired young people to love art for thirty-five years. Yet life was never boring. Aggie?s dedication to others, her love and kindness were her trademarks in every role of her life.

Agnes was the second child of Berne and Dorthea Woolley of Depew, New York, born December 27, 1937. She attended the Depew schools and graduated from SUNY Buffalo State in 1959 with a degree in Art Education. Aggie was junior high and later elementary art teacher at Letchworth Central School. She generated a love and appreciation for art among hundreds of students for over thirty-five years at Letchworth and briefly at Perry Elementary early in her career and at St. Michael?s in Warsaw, NY after her retirement from Letchworth.

Aggie was predeceased by her husband, Art Tamrowski who was also an art teacher at Letchworth Central School. Aggie and Art were known in their community for their artistic talents, great dinner parties, good humor and a commitment to the beautification of their surroundings. Their openness to the outside world was blended with a homey welcome to new people, new cultures and new tastes. Rarely do two people couple so exceptionally as ?Art and Aggie? did.

Since Art?s death in 2012, Aggie had re-discovered her own interests, especially her extraordinary talent for pastels and oil painting. Her art was displayed in local shows in Wyoming and Genesee Counties, most recently at the ?Local Color: Small World? Exhibit in January 2016 at the Arts Council of Wyoming County. Aggie also loved watching her birds, gardening, reading, knitting, and spending time with friends and family, finally at her own pace. Aggie loved good books and films, meaningful conversations with friends and loved ones, and she had a great sense of humor. She was always willing to support her children?s families with regular visits that were filled with love and care all while demonstrating a quiet strength.

Aggie is survived by her three children and eight grandchildren: Nancy Goetz of Corning, NY and her children Matthew, Leigha and Thomas Goetz; Nina Tamrowski, of Syracuse, NY and her children Timothy, Joseph and Liam Rupprecht; and Seth Tamrowski of Pasadena, CA (Van) and their children Will and Harry Tamrowski. Surviving siblings include Susan Hopper (David) of Hamilton, NY; and Douglas Woolley (Julie) of Poughkeepsie, NY. Aggie was predeceased by her parents, and brothers Berne and Jerry. Aggie?s dearest friend Kathryn Fitzsimmons cared for her in the last few months, until compassionate care at Morgan Estates was needed to guide Aggie to her next life. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

There are no calling hours. Aggie?s Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, December 27, at 10 AM at St. Isidore?s Parish, St. Mary?s church site, Church St., Silver Springs.
