Evelyn M. Reynolds

Age 97, a resident of the Wyoming County Nursing Facility, formerly of Bliss, NY, passed away on August 2, 2021 at the nursing facility.

She was born November 13, 1923 in Eagle, NY, daughter of the late John and Emma Day Washburn. Evelyn worked in the cafeteria at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw for several years. She was also a homemaker and a self employed hairdresser. In earlier years, the children in Bliss knew Evelyn as “Aunt Evie” and in later years she was affectionately known as “Grandma” while she was a resident of the nursing facility.

Evelyn was a longtime member of the Bliss Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and walker. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and making dolls for her grandchildren and Evelyn enjoyed making trips to Florida.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Sterling “Tiny” Reynolds who died December 10, 1975; her son, Virgil Crawford and great grandson, Benjamin Lane.

Surviving are her children, Dale (Ann) Reynolds of Wyoming, NY, Kevin (Margie Lynch) Reynolds of Charlotte, TN, Deborah (Don) Reding of Attica, Jeff (Terry) Reynolds of Little River, SC; daughter-in-law, Gloria Crawford; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; siblings, Joyce (Doug) Warner of Bliss, Glenn (Lynnann) Washburn of Attica; nieces and nephews. . She was the sister of the late Hazel Hatfield, Lynn Washburn, Crystal Shaffner, Clarence Washburn, Laurel Roberts, Jay Washburn, Everett Washburn, and Joan Swain.

Friends may call Thursday, August 5 from 12 – 1:30 PM at the Bliss Baptist Church, 3402 Main St., Bliss, NY where Evelyn’s funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in Lyonsburg Cemetery, Bliss. Memorials may be made to the Bliss Baptist Church, 3402 Main St., Bliss, NY 14024 or Lyonsburg Cemetery, 6032 Horton Rd., Bliss, NY 14024.
