Frederica K. “Fritz” Grove

October 4, 1914 - March 15, 2012

Age 97, a resident of the Cloisters in Warsaw, NY died March 15, 2012 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw.

She was born October 4, 1914 in Warsaw, daughter of the late Edward and Florence Smith Karstaedt. Fritz was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a former leader with the Girl Scouts of America, Boy Scouts of America and 4 – H. She was a member of the United Church of Warsaw, the Women’s Guild of the church, the Warsaw Monday Club, Warsaw Historical Society and Home Bureau. She was a longtime volunteer with the Board of Elections and had served on the ration board during World War II. Fritz was also a longtime supporter of the Warsaw Barbershoppers.

She was predeceased by her husband, David DeForest Grove who died July 18, 1998.

Surviving are her son, Dennis (Suanne) Grove of Warsaw; her daughter, Diane Sue (Paul) Hunt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her grandchildren, Jessica A. Hunt, Shayna A. (Timothy) Franks, Crista L. Grove and David D. Grove. She was the grandmother of the late Lauren E. Grove.

Friends may call Monday 7 – 9 PM and Tuesday 11 AM – 1 PM at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where a service will be held Tuesday at 1 PM. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Warsaw Historical Society, 15 Perry Ave., Warsaw, NY 14569 or the Warsaw Barbershoppers, 44 Liberty St. Warsaw, NY 14569.

Dix and Diane, I can remember as a young boy going over to the Grove house to build model cars at the kitchen table with Dennis. Fritz was forever baking cookies for us, I couldn't wait for them to come out of the oven. Dave was also there for us with the Kiwanis Little League. Great people who helped many of us grow up.
